Welcome to the Westbrook’s Elementary Library

OUR LIBRARIES ADVOCATE READING!!
When it comes to preparing kids to lead a better life, reading is the most important skill you can teach.  The more contact children have with books, the more they read.  The more they practice reading, the better readers they become.
Students who spend 20 minutes per day reading books independently are exposed to 1.8 million words per year and score in the 90th percentile on standardized tests.
No matter how advanced technology gets or how flat the world becomes, reading will continue to be the gateway to a successful life.  It is the core skill that helps children master all others.

SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR
Our Book Fair was a great success.  We were able to sell over $4,700 in books and merchandise.  Every dollar spent and donated to the Book Fair helps to purchase books and media equipment for our library.  Thank you for helping to support our library.  Next year’s Book Fair will be October 26 through November 2.  Our theme will be All Star Book Fair.  I look forward to seeing you there!

BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION
Our Fall Box Tops submission earned us $316.90!  Please continue to collect Box Tops for Education.  Our next submission will be in March.  Box Tops can be turned into the library or you may put them in my box.  Also, please visit the Box top website.  There are many ways that you can help earn Box Top by visiting the following site:  www.boxtops4education.com
