Work-A-Thon

Work-A-Thon 2009

To God be the Glory for the great things He has done!
Our 7th annual Work-a-thon has once again been a great success.  Westbrook Christian School reached out to our community and completed 35 service projects.  Students were involved in working with Head Start children, serving lunch at a local soup kitchen, helping at the Salvation Army and did yard work for the elderly, just to name a few of the projects.  This was a day that we could be the hands of Jesus Christ.  To date we have raised $27,180.00 for the needs of our school, such as enhancing our technology.  Thank you teachers, parents and students for supporting Westbrook and for showing Christ to those around us.

I went to Head Start.  I met some awesome kids.  One’s name was Jamaron, and the other’s name was Trey. They were hugging me and they were acting like little brothers.  We went to breakfast and helped serve the kids.  I went to talk to my teacher, and I noticed a little girl started choking.  So I patted her on the back a bit till she stopped.

That was probably my most Christ-like experience.  I felt that God was very proud of me that day.  The angels were singing and dancing to my good deed.  I love to work with children.  God put kids in this world for us to enjoy, so I am enjoying them as much as I can.  WORK-A-THON is an awesome Christ-like day that we can help the needy.

I enjoyed work-a-thon a lot. It was fun to wash the windows at school.  While washing the windows, it made me think of how God washed us clean of out sin, but some of the windows had so much dirt that no matter how much we cleaned it never came off.  Just like some people have so much sin that they are too afraid to ask God to clean them.

After we went to Chic-fil-a…A cool thing about work-a-thon was that everyone helped each other and gave each other tips to help do their work better.  I had a great time growing closer to God.

I see that same store ever single day of my life.  I get aggravated at my dad for taking me there. Yet I had no idea what the employees did.  The workers and volunteers work so hard.  It was back breaking work.  The people who volunteer everyday blow my mind. The work that we did was menial.  It happens every single day.  My fingers have cuts on them from where they were smashed from trying to unload a lawnmower.  The pay isn’t that high anyway.  We can’t afford to pay high, but they still work.  I was exhausted after Work- A-Thon.  Coach Ryan seemed to be very tired, but he wouldn’t show it. This morning I overslept about thirty-minutes.  My back still hurts, but those employees and volunteers will get up the next morning and do the same thing.  It was very humbling what people will do for their families.
